I felt this was an appropriate scout program for our local museum. Sure, you can name famous Americans with whom everyone is familiar, but there are also local, unsung heroes.
The self-guided program is pretty straightforward. There's a 2-page packet that each scout receives. It outlines the requirements and questions they need to answer. I created an info card for all 50 states so they can complete requirement 4. An example is provided on the left. Finally, I created an activity out of requirement 5. Given the U.S. flag template, are to color in the flag using blue crayons and ripped up pieces of red construction paper. This program has been recently added to the list of programs offered at the museum. I hope to get a chance to update this page when I've received some feedback from participants. |
